AFL bets are one of the most lucrative options for fresher or inexperienced punters with so many matches, players and teams. This is one of the main reasons why so many punters lose their money every year. Here are some warnings for those who will bet for the first time:
1. You should bet on your own research or intuition or not under the influence of anyone else. You should never gamble on anyone else’s thoughts or wishes, because you may lose.
2. It is important that when you are placing your bet, you are free from any kind of alcohol or drinks because in such an intoxicated state your power of thinking will be jeopardized. Just ensure that whenever you are placing a bet, you do it in a clear mind so that you do not make any rash decision.
3. Do not let anyone else do the homework for you. It may be a wrong interpretation of details. Do not ask anyone else to check the odds for you. Do all the research yourself with the help of online sports books and tipsters.
4. You have to develop a niche for betting. If you are not confident, you need to wait for sometime so that you are confident about your skills.

AFL offers a broad range of betting options for every punter, irrespective of whether he is an experienced punter or a newbie who is trying his luck at betting for the first time. When you decide to go ahead with AFL betting, you will find that there are several options available which include AFL match betting, AFL future odds, AFL LIVE betting and many more options.
In AFL match betting, it is often seen that online companies offer margins for head to head betting on the different matches played. Head to head betting is nothing but placing your bet on a particular team, which you feel has a better chance of winning the match. There are many kinds of betting options for these matches, which include first scoring plays, players based disposal, first points and HT/FT double.
However, AFL future odds are specially designed for those punters who have financial interest for the whole season.
AFL LIVE betting options are quite interesting. This is the next best way one can enjoy these matches, if not watching them on location. Punters enjoy the matches and have chances of betting live during the game, for quarter time or half time scores, on best players, on first goal scorer, on half time score among other options. With the advent of social networking sites and AFL betting websites, punters who want to bet live (over the phone or online) can follow the scores and latest updates offered LIVE and place their bets accordingly.
With so many betting options available, AFL betting has naturally grown popular as the favorite Aussie pastime.

If you’re an active AFL bettor, the chances are high that you may be unable to make it to every match personally. But, this should not stop you from betting on your favourite team or the one that is most likely to win in your opinion.
When you consider AFL bets, Betfair has been one of the largest online sources that have been offering the opportunity of ignoring the classic bookmaker and betting online over internet and even high end mobile phones like Blackberry and the iPhone 3G.
Sure thing, betting has always been controversial, but when the discussion boils down to AFL betting, things get even wilder. There are sudden shocks and dismays whenever there are upsets, while there are sheer moments of joy and pride when your favourite team rocks the night and bags the glory.
Last year, the Geelong Cats were the favourites, but the Hawks came out victorious on the night on glory and won the championship. The odds were pretty high in favour of Geelong, but when Hawks squashed them outright, not only were the hopes of Geelong fans shattered, but also the punters who had backed them with all their money.
This year, Geelongs are again one of the hot favourites after the 2009 AFL round 20 results, but let us wait and watch whether they’re worth betting in the finals.

The AFL (Australian Football league) can not only be exciting to watch, but extremely resourceful in earning a fortune with some serious betting. Before we turn the focus towards betting, let us take an in-sight to the AFL.
AFL Premiership Season
The firs-ever AFL Premiership Season was held during the year 1858, and in the past one and half century, the AFL Football (also known as Aussie Rules) has grown into one of the massive national sports.
Currently 16 teams from various parts of the country, such as Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia, participate in the latest AFL Football Odds.
AFL Grand Final
Apart from being the finale, the AFL grand final has also got the status of being Australia’s most important sporting event (especially because the betting is on all time high). It is always schedules on the last Saturday of the month of September. It is always held at the MCG.
Brownlow Medal
In the AFL calendar, the Brownlow happens to be one of the most anticipated awards. However, it can’t be won by merely scoring goals. Umpires keep an eye on the best players on the field and they’ll be awarded points as per their level of fair play.
At the end of the year, the player with maximum points is then given the AFL Brownlow Medal.

After being the part of 54-point victory over Port Adelaide, Mitch Robinson will no longer be able to participate in Carlton\’s 2009 campaign, as he has suffered an unexpected mighty stress fracture.
Mitch has been acclaimed to be almost a livewire during this season and his performance in all the 10games was simply fascinating. But, apparently his season campaign is almost over with this unexpected fracture in foot, and it will definitely be a big blow to the Blues team and all the fans.
Coach Brett Ratten unveiled this sad news, and exclaimed sometimes things get too footy, but that’s all part of the game and you’ve to accept it.
Mitch had bagged the Harrison Medal for best player in All-Australian and also 2nd division selections. Right from his debut at the age of 20-years, Mitch had shown his hard-at-it attitude.
The absence of Mitch will definitely pinch the Blues squad, but this is how things move on. There have been lot of surprise this year in the AFL premiership. And, the biggest of them all has been the sheer fact that last year’s winners Hawks, who were the hot favourites this time too, are not even near the top 5 spot in the current 2009 AFL standings.
Keep an eye on the Round 21, as things heat up, and sure thing there are still many more shockers to come for sure.

AFL is the Australia Football League. The League is comprised of 16 clubs that compete within 22 matches each season. The AFL has the third largest sports following in the world, averaging about 35,000 people per game.
The Australian Rules football was first seen in the year 1897 and was referenced as the VFL which stood for Victorian Football League. This was because the league only consisted of Victorian clubs. In 1990, it was later renamed to AFL due to its recognition as a national sport.
Unlike many sports events, AFL rounds are longer than a day event. They will typically span over a weekend encompassing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The round will usually consist of 8 games. This largely differs from American Football such as the NFL because they play 4 quarters of the game over a couple hour period.
Currently, AFL has teamed up with some major names across many industries creating a sound monetary foothold. This is not likely to change in the years to come due to the fact that the attendance to games is continually increasing while the popularity and relationships with partnering companies grows even stronger.

There are many services that advertise AFL betting odds. They offer the best deals and AFL bet comparisons. This information in general can either let you win, lose or win big. In AFL betting, or any betting for that matter, a one point difference could make or break you.
In the whole concept though, there are many upsets as well as bumps that come along the way when relying on AFL betting odds. If you will be using betting odds, as most do, you will note that it is best to get on the AFL betting odds early in the season.
There are a couple of types of betters that do not pay any mind to AFL betting odds. Some just get into it for the action and bet on anything they feel like betting on. Then you have the person that wants to be a pro-gambler but does not have the skill or discipline to do so. He will often go off on a tangent as well and deviate from the normal AFL betting odds. There is the pro gambler that makes the best decision and pays attention to the AFL betting odds while the person who does it for a hobby is trying to figure out the whys on the odds while trying to formulate their own regimen.
Whichever better you are, you will either be for or against AFL betting odds. They are there to use, but not relevant to everyone.
